Hello everyone, I am currently assembling my new Ikea Brimnes wardrobe and want to avoid scratches on the surface during the process. Since the material is quite delicate, I’m wondering if you have any practical tips or tricks to help protect the furniture as much as possible while putting it together. Should I use special coverings, be extra careful in certain areas, or are there proven tools that can minimize the risk? I look forward to your experiences and advice!

Since then, I’ve been using cardboard strips as protection on especially delicate edges and make sure that all parts lie flat and spaced apart on the base. That’s a great tip! Sometimes you just have to bring out your inner DIYer and create protection with a few simple aids like cardboard. I always say: it’s better to prepare thoroughly once and assemble smoothly, rather than having to gather later for scratch-repair sessions 😉.
In addition to the recommended soft underlay, I would advise carefully aligning the components during installation and avoiding excessive force when pressing them together. Even slight misalignment can cause scratches. I like to use felt pads under sensitive edges or to cover screw areas. Additionally, a piece of plastic or a wooden board works better as a lever extension than metal tools directly on the surface.
