Hello everyone, I recently assembled an Ikea Platsa cabinet, but the doors squeak quite a bit. The noise usually occurs when opening and closing, which gets really annoying over time. In my opinion, the doors are properly aligned, and the hinges are correctly installed, at least as far as I can tell. My question is: how can I prevent the Ikea Platsa doors from squeaking? Are there specific methods, materials, or tips to permanently eliminate this unpleasant noise? I would appreciate detailed suggestions and experiences.

It’s interesting to see how much background information has already been provided here. However, I would like to critically ask to what extent the squeaking in Ikea Platsa doors is actually due to technical defects, or whether it might be a design issue with the hinges that occurs more frequently in budget furniture.

Possibly replacing the hinge rubber parts, if present, or completely replacing the hinges if there is wear, could be worthwhile.
This brings me to the question: Are there any reliable statements or user experiences regarding how durable the installed hinges are in long-term use? I have the impression that Ikea models like Platsa might cut costs on long-lasting metal components, which could lead to such squeaking effects over time.

In addition: Would it be possible to mechanically prevent the squeaking by improving the door damping or cushioning between the doors and the carcass, instead of just treating the symptom with lubrication? That would be more sustainable in the long run. What do you think?
