Hello everyone, I am currently planning the interior layout for my new Ikea Pax wardrobe and want to make the design as efficient and functional as possible to maximize storage space without missing any necessary components later on. I am mainly wondering how to best combine the different elements such as shelves, hanging rods, drawers, and inserts to keep the system flexible while making the most of the available space. I am also interested in the best way to measure before ordering and whether there are tips on which combinations work particularly well for specific needs (e.g., many pants, few dresses, more shoe compartments). Has anyone had experience with tools or methods that simplify the planning process? I would appreciate structured advice on how to proceed step by step to plan not only space-saving but also practical solutions.

I want to add something here because it is often overlooked: If you want to use your Pax system effectively, you should definitely evaluate the storage space based on how you actually use it and be flexible if needed. Especially with systems like Pax, it’s worth checking again after a few months to see if the layout still matches your habits.

It is also practical to choose the shelf heights so that they match the folded sizes of your clothes, maximizing the use of space.

Exactly! Sometimes the simple custom adjustments are underestimated, and you can fit a lot more that way. I also think having a few open sections in the wardrobe is useful so that not everything is hidden behind doors. This makes it easier to keep track and saves time in the morning.

One more tip: Plan for enough drawer units that operate quietly with soft-close mechanisms. This makes opening and closing really enjoyable and prevents wear and tear.
