Hello everyone, while installing and fitting the Ikea Metod baseboards, I noticed I often encounter minor challenges that unnecessarily delay the process or affect the final appearance. My question is: What proven techniques, tools, and preparation steps do you recommend for installing Ikea Metod baseboards as efficiently and precisely as possible? I am especially interested in how to cleanly and securely handle problem areas like uneven floors, corners, and connection pieces. It would also be helpful to know if there are any tips for attaching the baseboards without damaging the parts or the walls. Thanks in advance for your advice!

For inside and outside corners, the rule is "always place the molding against the wall, never leave a gap in the corner."

This is an important point – I would add that the miter cuts should be made very precisely; otherwise, unsightly gaps will be visible. I personally use a stop angle to secure the workpiece when cutting, ensuring the same cutting angle every time.

Secondly: On uneven floors, I have had good results when attaching the baseboards with flexible mounting rails, allowing small height differences to be better compensated. Afterwards, the moldings can be easily adjusted on the underside using insulating tape or felt pads.

If the baseboards creak or press when being fastened, a thin layer of foam behind the molding often helps to provide a slightly elastic fit. This is especially important for engineered hardwood flooring.

Last but not least: For a continuous appearance in corners, it is essential to use wrap-around baseboards that are modular and expandable. Sometimes, third-party suppliers offer extension parts that are precisely compatible with Ikea Metod.
