Hello everyone,

I am currently facing the challenge of cleaning my Ikea Pax wardrobes with high-gloss fronts without leaving unsightly streaks. The fronts are sensitive to abrasive cleaners and dripping moisture, which makes the process more difficult. Especially in heavily used areas, cleaning marks often remain, even though I only use a soft microfiber cloth and mild dish soap.

My question: How can I clean Ikea Pax wardrobes with high-gloss fronts without streaks? Are there proven methods or special materials that work particularly well to clean the fronts gently and streak-free? Which cleaning agents are recommended, and what is the best approach? I would greatly appreciate concrete tips and experiences, ideally without using specialized cleaners or complicated home remedies, as I want to keep it as simple and effective as possible.

Thanks in advance for your support!

This is definitely a challenge I can relate to. These high-gloss fronts look great, but it’s frustrating when you put in the effort and still end up with streaks or smudges.

In my experience, it works best to start by wiping with a damp, well-wrung microfiber cloth, making sure to keep the moisture very minimal because too much water can cause spots.

Then, immediately follow up by polishing the surfaces with a dry, clean microfiber cloth — this often prevents the water droplets from spreading and leaving streaks.

Personally, I don’t use dish soap because I’ve noticed that too much soap can also leave streaks. For tougher dirt, I add a drop of vinegar to the water instead; this also helps to restore the shine.

Maybe this gentle and quick routine will help you without needing to buy expensive specialty products. I hope you find a good solution!

Important tips for cleaning Ikea Pax high-gloss fronts:

- Use only a well-wrung microfiber cloth (no rough sponges or paper towels).
- Avoid harsh cleaning agents or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the surface.
- Mild solutions work best: for example, warm water with a few drops of neutral dish soap.
- Always wipe gently in circular motions to reduce streaking.
- Surfaces should not be too wet during cleaning.

After wiping the surface damp, it is recommended to dry immediately with a clean, dry microfiber cloth to prevent streaks.

If there are tougher residues, a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar is a proven alternative. Vinegar has light degreasing properties and helps prevent streaks.

In summary: damp cleaning without over-wetting, mild agents, and immediate drying are key for streak-free cleaning of high-gloss fronts.

I would like to add to this approach and highlight two important factors that often cause streaking:

1. Water quality: Tap water often contains lime scale, which can leave dull spots and streaks when it evaporates.
Ideally, distilled water or at least cleaning water with a vinegar additive should be used to avoid lime scale deposits.

2. Cloth quality: The fibers of the microfiber cloth should be free of residues or fabric softener buildup.
Fabric softener can make cleaning more difficult and contribute to streaking. Microfiber cloths should be washed at a minimum of 60°C (140°F) without fabric softener.

My cleaning process is as follows:
- First, lightly wipe with a well-wrung, clean microfiber cloth dampened with water plus a drop of dish soap.
- Then immediately polish thoroughly with a second dry microfiber cloth.

Both steps should be done promptly to prevent moisture from drying on the surface. This keeps the finish crystal clear without streaks or smears.

This fine adjustment of water and cloth prevents many issues that are otherwise difficult to diagnose.
