Hello everyone,
I have owned several IKEA Besta furniture pieces for some time and have been regularly cleaning them. I have noticed that despite normal care, dirt sometimes becomes stubborn—whether it’s grease stains, dust, or minor scratches from daily use. My question is: How can I effectively clean IKEA Besta furniture from dirt without damaging the surface?
I am particularly interested in which cleaning agents are suitable, if there are any special care products or home remedies that are gentle but effective, and the best approach to different types of stains without harming the glossy or matte finishes.
I look forward to your tips and experiences!

I completely understand the concern about damaging the surface. I often find myself accidentally applying too much pressure while cleaning or using the wrong cloth.
With my Besta furniture, I’ve had good results by avoiding heavy scrubbing and instead letting the dirt loosen in a water solution for a little while.
I also make sure no moisture remains, as the furniture material reacts sensitively to it – this helps prevent unsightly marks for me.
When I’m short on time, just using a dry microfiber cloth between cleanings is sometimes enough to trap dust and protect the surface.
I want to encourage you not to see cleaning as stressful. With the right method, it works really well!

I always recommend starting with a soft microfiber cloth and lukewarm water. Thanks for the tip, jordanvin! That’s actually a great starting point for me.

Always test new products on an inconspicuous area before treating the entire surface.I will definitely follow that advice, as I rarely do this.

With my Besta furniture, I’ve found that not scrubbing too hard and allowing stains to soak in a water solution for a while works well.I’ll make sure to be patient like that.
Maybe as an addition: Does anyone have a recommendation for a suitable care product to occasionally treat the surfaces, in order to extend their lifespan and maintain appearance without risking harmful ingredients?
Thanks to everyone who has answered so far!
