Hello everyone, I have several pieces of furniture from the Ikea Hemnes series in my apartment, mainly made of solid pine wood. Since these pieces are used quite heavily—sometimes as storage and sometimes as seating—I’m wondering how to best care for the Hemnes furniture to protect the surface and minimize scratches, dents, or discoloration, or at least treat them properly if they occur. I understand that the wood is either untreated or lacquered, but I would like to know which specific cleaning and care products are recommended, whether regular application of a special oil or wax is necessary, and how to best prevent and repair everyday damage. Perhaps someone has special tips for heavily used furniture from this series? I would appreciate advice that supports both the appearance and durability of the furniture.
Oh, this topic is really fascinating! I have Hemnes furniture in constant use – and yes, maintaining it with oil does make a difference, but it shouldn’t be seen as a tedious chore, rather as a small way to care for your furniture. I treat mine approximately every 3-4 months with wood oil, which keeps the surface smooth and protects it from stains. In between, simply wiping with a dry cloth also helps extend its lifespan. If scratches do occur, they are very easy to repair. Give your furniture the attention it deserves!
