Hello everyone, I have a problem removing the price tags stuck on IKEA Hemnes furniture. The tags are not only somewhat stubborn to peel off, but they often leave sticky residues that are difficult to remove without damaging the surface. My question is: What methods or products do you use to effectively and gently remove price tags from Hemnes furniture without harming the wood or the finish? I would appreciate any tips, especially regarding tried-and-true home remedies or specialized cleaners.

I carefully scraped off the label on my Hemnes wardrobe using a plastic spatula after soaking it with warm water for a few minutes. This way, there is almost no residue left. If any sticky remains persist, I rubbed them off with an oil-based cleaner.

The oil removes the adhesive residue completely and often nourishes the surface as well.

Good tips from everyone. I’ll try the method with the hairdryer and oil since it’s gentle on the paint and reduces mechanical stress. Does anyone recommend a specific oil besides baby or olive oil? Also, how long do you warm the labels with the hairdryer approximately, without damaging the wood?

When heating with a hairdryer, keep the temperature moderate and use the hairdryer on a medium setting at most. Hold the device about 20-30 cm (8-12 inches) away from the label and keep it moving constantly to avoid overheating any spot. Mineral oils like baby oil are well suited because they do not damage the paint. Alternatively, pure glycerin also works. It penetrates adhesive residues effectively and softens them without harming the surface.

Brief and to the point: First soak (hairdryer or damp cloth), then treat with an oil-based product and gently rub. Never remove with harsh chemicals or excessive rubbing. This way, the surface of the Hemnes remains intact.
