Hello everyone, I am planning to install an Ikea Metod kitchen soon and would like to avoid common mistakes during assembly. I know that assembling Metod kitchens presents several challenges – for example, aligning the cabinets, properly securing them to the wall, and attaching the fronts and countertops – so I am especially interested in which errors tend to occur frequently and how to avoid them professionally. Of course, it would also be helpful if you could share your own experiences or known issues. What tips or tricks do you recommend to minimize both delays and assembly errors? Thanks in advance!

Hey, I’m happy to chime in and get straight to the point: One of the most important things before you start is to carefully read through the instructions, even if it feels tedious.

- Take your time with the planning phase, no matter how tempting a quick assembly might be.
- Use a spirit level when installing cabinets to avoid doors that hang crooked or uneven lines.
- Don’t overtighten screws, as this can warp the wood or material.

A little story: out of impatience, I once installed a cabinet door incorrectly — but with a good sense of humor, it all worked out in the end. I’m sure your project will go smoothly. 😉

Good luck and stay relaxed!

Most errors when installing Ikea Metod kitchens can be avoided through careful preparation and following some key steps:

- Checking the wall condition: Before installation, make sure the wall is load-bearing and even. Irregularities or unstable walls can cause problems when attaching the cabinet systems.
- Proper leveling with a spirit level: Each section must be installed horizontally to ensure doors and drawers operate smoothly afterwards.
- Careful handling of screws and connectors: Avoid overtightening to prevent damage to the materials.
- Precisely fitting the countertops to minimize later adjustments.

With Metod, it is also essential to sort the individual modules before installation and assign them according to the instructions, as mix-ups can quickly cause misalignment. Based on experience, I recommend planning the entire assembly step by step, allowing time for adjustments, and if in doubt, working together with a helper.

Absolutely, that’s such a common issue. I once nearly stripped a screw and had to replace the entire board.

Here’s another tip: always install the baseboards at the very end, otherwise it’s hard to reach the small screws. And for the doors: feel free to adjust the hinges a bit before fully tightening them – it makes a huge difference later on!

In addition, I recommend considering the thickness of the countertop and the load from appliances before installation, as proper alignment and securing are crucial here.

It is also important to properly fix the wall mounting regardless of the surface material to avoid later tilting or load issues.

As a general rule: don’t rush the final assembly. It’s better to check multiple times and proceed step by step.
