Good morning everyone, I am planning to install METOD drawers with soft-close functionality and am looking for a way to make the installation as simple and quick as possible. I have already reviewed the instructions, but the number of steps and some of the fiddly components concern me a bit. I’m especially interested in how to quickly and correctly install the soft-close mechanism without having to adjust the drawer multiple times. Are there any tips or tried-and-tested methods to save time while still achieving a reliable result? Looking forward to your advice!

A simple and quick installation of the METOD drawers with soft-close function is easier if you follow a clear sequence and some proven methods:

- First, check all parts for completeness.
- Use a clean and sufficiently large workspace.
- Start by attaching the runner rails to the cabinet carcass, then the drawer sides.
- Fully remove the drawer to attach the soft-close mechanism; this makes the process easier.
- Pay close attention to the markings on the metal parts for correct alignment.
- Screw all components loosely first before tightening everything completely.
- Finally, a test run is recommended to make any necessary adjustments.

This systematic approach prevents rework and ensures the soft-close function operates smoothly.

It is best to sort all the individual parts first, then attach the runners to the cabinet body. Install the drawer sides with soft-close mechanism, insert the drawer, and adjust it. This prevents unnecessary back-and-forth screwing.

Here is a brief step-by-step guide for the quick assembly of METOD drawers with soft-close function:

1. Preparation: Unpack all parts and sort them according to the instructions. This way, you know exactly which part goes where.

2. Mounting the drawer slides: Attach the slides perfectly level to the cabinet frame. A spirit level helps a lot to ensure the drawer runs smoothly later on.

3. Installing the soft-close mechanism: Fit the soft-close components onto the designated positions on the drawer sides. The clips and small screws can be a bit fiddly; a small Phillips screwdriver is helpful here.

4. Assembling the drawer: Connect the drawer parts as per the instructions. Pay attention to the order of mounting the slides – it is often better to fasten them loosely first and then adjust afterwards.

5. Inserting & testing: Carefully slide the drawer in. Test the soft-close function. If necessary, adjust the running paths on both sides to optimize the smooth closing action.

Common mistakes:
- Tightening screws too much before all parts are in place.
- Drawer slides not perfectly level.
- Soft-close mechanism not secured firmly.

With a little patience, it works smoothly, and the soft-close system really makes using the drawer enjoyable.

It is best to install the self-closing mechanism before fully assembling the drawer. This saves time and makes it easier to attach the small clips and spring parts.

Hello sofibe,

I understand your concern. Installing the METOD drawers with soft-close can be a bit tricky at first, but with a systematic approach, it’s manageable.

First, I recommend carefully inspecting all components before starting the installation, especially the spring mechanism and the runners, to make sure everything moves freely and nothing is stuck.

A tip: When installing the soft-close mechanism on the drawer sides, take it step by step and don’t try to fit everything at once.

It’s also important to ensure that the drawer slides are mounted perfectly parallel and at the same height – I suggest using a spirit level for this. Just a few millimeters (inches) of deviation can quickly lead to jamming or malfunctions.

When inserting the drawer itself, make sure the slides are fully engaged – if the drawer doesn’t run smoothly right away, gently pull it out and reposition it rather than forcing it.

I also found it helpful to open and close the drawer slowly a few times after installation, allowing the system to settle.

If you have trouble handling the soft-close mechanism any further, I’d be happy to provide more detailed instructions.
