I would like to start a discussion on the following topic: How can the Ikea Pax be used as a multifunctional piece of furniture in small apartments to make the most of limited space? I am especially interested in the idea of using the Pax wardrobe not only for clothing but also as storage for other items, possibly even integrated with workspace or sleeping solutions. Are there any clever modifications, adaptations, or combinations with other furniture that you would recommend? What experiences have you had, particularly regarding durability and appearance?

A simple solution: use the lower section of the Pax wardrobe for shoe storage and integrate open shelves in the upper section for decorative items or books. This way, you create order with minimal effort while still having versatile storage space.

Anyone who converts the Pax into a seating area or even a bed is making things unnecessarily complicated.

Well, maybe that’s a bit too strict. 😉 With a sturdy seating area on top of the Pax or a pull-out bed box underneath, you can really create impressive space-saving solutions. Especially in small apartments, sometimes you have to be bold and move beyond traditional furniture concepts.

Besides, the Pax has the appealing advantage that it can be customized individually and visually enhanced. For example, in one room I have a combination of a Pax with an integrated workspace and, in the middle, a small sofa – it looks great and is super practical.
