Hello everyone, I recently bought an Ikea PAX wardrobe and wanted to adjust the doors vertically because they don’t close perfectly flush and rub slightly in one spot. My question is: How can you adjust Ikea PAX doors in height so that they fit exactly and neither rub nor close unevenly? Is there a specific technique or mechanism on the hinges or the door itself to precisely set the height? I understand that doors can often be adjusted horizontally and forward, but how exactly does the height adjustment work on PAX? Are there any tricks if the hinge adjustment range is not sufficient? Thank you in advance for your detailed advice or tips!
Additional information: The Pax doors can also be adjusted vertically at the hinge plate. On the metal plate attached to the PAX frame, there is often a screw that allows you to slightly raise or lower the door. This adjustment is more precise than lateral shifting. It is important to first open the door, then turn the adjustment screw – usually turning clockwise moves the door upwards, counterclockwise moves it downwards. Please proceed carefully to avoid damaging the hinge. Often, a small adjustment of 1–2 mm (0.04–0.08 inches) is enough to align the door perfectly.

The PAX doors can also be adjusted vertically at the hinge plate. I find this tip important because not only the screws on the hinge itself are relevant, but the rear hinge plate also allows for fine adjustment, which many users overlook. However, it should be noted that this adjustment only has a minimal effect on the door’s height. If the door is noticeably misaligned, it may be due to the cabinet side panels not being perfectly vertical. In that case, the basic frame should be checked first before making too many adjustments to the hinges.

If the door is noticeably crooked, it could be because the cabinet side panels are not perfectly plumb. Exactly! Sometimes the problem isn’t the door itself but the cabinet. So it’s best to align the cabinet with the wall first. After that, adjusting the doors becomes much easier and more enjoyable! You can do it! 🙂
Thank you for the helpful explanations. I now understand that the height can be adjusted both via the hinge mounting screws and the adjustment screw on the hinge plate. I will first check if the cabinet is level and then fine-tune the doors accordingly. If anyone has specific tips for adjusting multiple doors (for example, on double units), I would appreciate any additional advice. How can unevenness be avoided when two doors are installed directly next to each other? Thanks again for the support!
