I would like to start a discussion focused on the topic "How to optimally customize the interior of a Pax wardrobe?" My question is about how to adjust the interior layout and storage options in the Pax wardrobe to best meet various needs—such as space-saving storage, clear organization, and flexible use. It is important to me to consider different wardrobe sizes as well as the available accessories and their combinations. Who has experience with modular adjustments, for example with shelves, hanging rods, drawers, or special inserts, and can offer tips on planning individual solutions without having to compromise on functionality later? Thoughts on material selection and installation would also be helpful.

Thank you for your suggestions so far. I find tra_nina’s idea of using the IKEA configurator particularly interesting. Do you have specific tips on how to effectively plan different modules? Is it better to choose many small compartments or larger sections that can later be supplemented with boxes? I’m asking because I’m wondering how flexible a Pax wardrobe remains once the compartments are fixed.

I would critically point out that a fixed commitment to prefabricated modules also has disadvantages.

In my experience, a combination makes sense because many small compartments often waste storage space and are less flexible. Larger compartments offer more versatile usage options, but the overall clarity decreases. It depends on the intended use: larger compartments work well for seasonal clothing, while smaller compartments or drawers are ideal for everyday clothes.

I recommend drawers with a soft-close mechanism, as they significantly increase comfort. Additionally, drawer dividers are very useful for keeping underwear or socks organized. Combined with adjustable shelves, this creates a solid foundation.

Also consider load capacity. Not all shelves support the same amount of weight. For shoes or heavy items, special inserts are recommended; otherwise, the material may warp.

I also agree that the entry point can confuse many options. My advice: Plan roughly with large main areas and develop the detailed planning step by step with coordinated modules. This way, you remain flexible in the long term.

After reviewing your suggestions yesterday, I have a follow-up question: How do you manage the shoe storage area in the Pax? Is it worth investing in special pull-out shoe shelves, or is a fixed shelf better? And what about ventilation, especially in closed cabinets? I have read that a lack of air circulation can promote mold growth.
