Hello everyone,
I have a somewhat detailed question about retrofitting soft-close functionality to Ikea Pax wardrobe doors. Is there a way to add soft-close to existing Pax doors that were originally delivered without soft-close hinges? I would like to know if the original hinges can be replaced or if there are alternative solutions, such as soft-close adapters that can be installed additionally without fully changing the hinges. It is also important for me to know whether specific solutions exist for different door types (mirror doors, wooden doors, lacquered doors) and how complex the installation is. Additionally, I would be interested if anyone has practical tips on what to especially watch out for when doing this yourself. Thanks in advance for your help!

A critical question: Is it really worth the effort to replace the original hinges? In several cases, I have noticed that soft-close components tend to be quite prone to issues or need frequent readjustment with heavy use. Especially for frequently used Pax wardrobe doors, the investment in new soft-close hinges might not pay off, since there are alternatives such as door dampers or quieter door handle mechanisms. Just something to consider.

Just a thought. I think the investment is definitely worth it! Easy to install, and that gentle closing really adds to the comfort. 😊 Especially if you have small children or sensitive doors, you immediately notice the difference. I did a bit of experimenting, and the hinges from Ikea fit perfectly, no issues so far. So: grab your screwdriver and treat yourself to this upgrade!Similar topics
