Hello everyone, I have a small, narrow hallway in my apartment and I’m thinking about how to best use the Ikea Platsa furniture to make the most of the space without making it feel cluttered or cramped. I’m looking for practical storage solutions while keeping things as flexible as possible, since I’d like to occasionally adjust the configuration. Maybe you have tips on combining the modules, avoiding space hogs, or smart ways to divide the compartments. I’m also interested to know if certain PLATSA elements work particularly well for hallways, such as narrow cabinets, wall-mounted cupboards, or specific uses. I’m looking forward to your experiences and suggestions!

For small hallways, I recommend narrow PLATSA units mounted on the wall. This keeps the floor clear and makes the space feel more open. Use doors instead of open shelves to maintain tidiness.

Hello francodan, I’m happy to provide a structured response regarding the use of PLATSA in small hallways:

- First, I recommend measuring the space precisely and knowing the clear passage width to avoid choosing modules that make walking difficult.
- Prefer tall, narrow units to make the best use of wall space. PLATSA is well suited for this as its depth is quite shallow (about 35 cm (14 inches)), which is ideal for hallways.
- Wall-mounted cabinets keep the floor clear and create a more spacious feel. When cabinets block the floor, the space feels smaller.
- A combination of closed fronts (for dust protection) and open shelves (for keys, decorations, etc.) is helpful.
- For flexibility, back panels and shelves can be easily removed or repositioned, allowing you to adjust the interior layout as needed.

One tip: don’t neglect lighting! Integrated LED lighting can visually enhance narrow areas.

Common mistakes I often see in small hallways are too deep and wide cabinets or too many open shelves, which create visual clutter. Good luck!

That’s a very useful suggestion, thank you! I’m also interested to know if anyone has already used specific sets or modules from PLATSA that are particularly suitable for hallways. I’m thinking, for example, of combinations with drawers for shoes or shelves for bags. What are your experiences with the sliding doors or shelves in hallway layouts?

Hey francodan, great topic! I love PLATSA and even created a solution for my small hallway!

I chose narrow cabinets with sliding doors, which saves a lot of space when opening and looks modern! I also included some open shelves for quick access – keys, hats, everything within reach.

Additionally, I installed sturdy shoe storage behind doors at the bottom – perfect!

A little tip: Don’t overcrowd the furniture. Sometimes less is more, especially when the hallway is small! Good luck, you can do it!

Additional information: PLATSA modules are well suited for small hallways due to their modular design, allowing individual combinations. It is important to pay attention to the depth of the modules – a maximum of 35 cm (14 inches) is ideal to ensure enough space for movement.

Sliding doors significantly reduce the space needed when opening and are therefore especially useful in narrow hallways. Drawers at the lower section are suitable for shoes, as they make efficient use of storage space.

Careful planning of the interior layout is recommended. For example, use tall cabinets to make the best use of vertical space.

Flexibility in combining different modules allows adjustments to changing needs.
