Hello everyone, I am planning to redesign my small bathroom and am considering using IKEA Platsa furniture, but I am unsure how to integrate it best. My bathroom is only about 4 square meters (43 square feet) in size, but it has a relatively high ceiling of 2.70 m (8 feet 10 inches). I mainly want to create storage space without making the room feel cluttered. I find the flexibility of the PLATSA series very appealing, especially because of its modular design and the variety of front and color options.
My question is: How can I use IKEA PLATSA furniture in small bathrooms so that the available space is used as efficiently as possible without making it feel cramped or chaotic? Do you have any tips for planning, combining elements like wall cabinets, shelves, and base units, or suggestions for color schemes and materials? It is particularly important for me to use moisture-resistant furniture and to ensure good ventilation.
Thanks in advance for your experiences and ideas!

For optimal use of IKEA PLATSA furniture in a small bathroom, a vertical layout with different height combinations is recommended. The series allows for custom configurations, enabling both deep storage options under the washbasin and tall wall cabinets. Choosing light colors helps enhance the perception of space and prevents a claustrophobic feel. Doors with easy-to-clean surfaces are practical for humid areas. Additionally, the design should consider access to ventilation and light sources to minimize mold growth. Combining closed cabinets with open shelving is also advisable to keep storage organized and flexible.

Definitely use the tall modules to maximize vertical space. I completely agree! Especially in small bathrooms, every centimeter (inch) counts. With PLATSA, you can build upwards effectively and create plenty of storage without cluttering the floor.

A targeted choice of light colors helps enhance the sense of space and prevents a claustrophobic feeling. Exactly, light colors make the room feel brighter and more spacious. I’ve installed white PLATSA units in my bathroom and think it creates a clean, tidy look.
Also: use the space above the door! There’s usually room for a narrow shelf that might otherwise go unused. And if you’re open to small details, consider adding an open corner shelf for decorations or towels—it breaks up the look and makes the space more inviting.
