Hello everyone,
I am currently planning to combine IKEA Metod cabinets with drawers in my new kitchen and have some questions. Specifically, I want to know how to best combine different drawer modules within the Metod system to ensure both functionality and appearance are optimal.
For example, I am interested in whether it is practical to install drawers of different heights (e.g., shallow and deeper drawers) side by side, and what to consider when connecting cabinets of different widths.
Are there also any practical tips for mounting the drawers as securely as possible and is there any accessory available to better organize the drawers?
Thank you in advance for your experiences and advice!

Connector fittings ensure stable connections between the modules.I can confirm that. The IKEA Metod connector fittings are designed to securely join multiple modules together.
Regarding the question about different depths: It is technically not an issue to connect cabinets with depths of 60 cm (24 inches) and 37 cm (15 inches). The fittings lock the cabinet carcasses together, preventing any movement when opening the drawers.
However, it is important to install the sides where the modules meet flush and aligned. A small gap can provide some flexibility if the floors are uneven.
Additionally, you can level the floor beneath the cabinets to ensure stability.
When connecting the cabinet modules, make sure the drawer slides remain compatible – otherwise, misalignment can occur quickly.
This is especially important when dealing with different heights.
Also, tighten the screws on the drawer runners well, as this increases durability.

Hello everyone!
I find it really interesting how the discussion here revolves around combining Metod drawers.
One thing that might also be important: if you mix different cabinet widths or drawer heights, it can help visually to use panels or front designs that make the overall look more harmonious.
And honestly, with the right inserts and organizers, the whole thing can even be fun – everything feels much better organized that way.
You just need to be a bit daring and not approach it too cautiously. Good luck!

I wonder if these are also extra sturdy when combining cabinets with different depths, for example a 60cm (24 inch) deep cabinet next to a 40cm (15 inch) cabinet that is only 37cm (15 inch) deep? The connecting fittings are basically designed for carcasses of the same depth. This means that if you connect two cabinets with different depths, it is technically possible, but stability may be compromised, especially with frequently used drawers.
One possible solution is to visually and mechanically separate the cabinets using spacer pieces, which reduces the stability issues.
Alternatively, you can use short adapter strips or stabilize the deeper cabinets with platform feet to achieve an even alignment.
The installation must be done carefully; otherwise, the smooth operation of the drawers will suffer.
