Hello everyone, I am currently facing the challenge of assembling and using my Ikea Hemnes cabinets in the most space-saving way possible. Specifically, I am interested in whether there are proven methods or tips to arrange or modify the cabinets so that they take up as little space as possible in small rooms while remaining functional. The cabinets are standard sizes, and I have already considered whether it is possible to alter the internal components or perhaps install several smaller cabinets instead of one large one. I would be interested to hear about your experiences and advice regarding the assembly and space-efficient use of the Hemnes series. Thanks in advance for your responses!
One more addition on space-saving installation: If you have doors that take up space in small rooms, you might consider replacing them with curtain solutions or open shelving. Cabinets like Hemnes are relatively sturdy, so an open shelf with suitable baskets inside works just as well and improves accessibility.

For the vertical surface, I recommend using lightweight metal hooks or strips with screw or clamp mechanisms that you attach to the side panels. That sounds like a practical solution, thanks! Do you have any experience with which fastening systems work best for Hemnes without damaging the surface? I’m also interested to know if adhesive systems are sturdy enough when you want to avoid drilling into the walls.
