I know this is probably a silly question, but I really have no clue right now. In the past, I used to just hammer nails into the walls.

By now, I’ve become a bit more cautious about it. If I want to change positions later, I’d end up with lots of small nail holes in the walls.

How do you handle this? We have wallpaper. I’ve read about nano tape, which is said to hold pictures very securely, but opinions are very mixed on how well it can be removed.
I also don’t want to avoid a nail hole only to end up with a tape strip-sized hole in the wallpaper.

In the past, people used to say,
a pinhead-sized amount of white toothpaste,
and nothing would be noticeable anymore.

Choose the fastener and location based on the weight, material, and value of the object to be hung. Sometimes the object is more valuable than the wall surface.

You seem to have some problems... A hole covered with paint is no longer visible to anyone.
I thought you have a small child? There are tiny holes in the walls, your smallest problems 😉
Once, I forgot to switch off the hammer drill function, which caused half the brick to come loose.
Even 3kg (6.6 lbs) of denture adhesive wouldn’t help then.
Luckily, it happened at a friend’s place 🙂 🙂

This thread is really funny! I haven’t experienced anything like this here before 😀

I suggest more basic threads:

- What kind of toilet paper do you use?
- Which chocolate spread do you have for breakfast?
- And how often do you wipe down your cooktop?

So the question isn’t entirely unfounded—people who have many pictures or artworks sooner or later face the question of whether to use picture rails or not.

I don’t have really high-end art, but I also don’t want to damage my walls more than necessary. Especially anything you hammer or drill in will usually leave marks when taken down. Our house already looked pretty full of holes after moving out. In a rental, I didn’t care as much, I have to admit, but in my own home, it somehow hurts to put holes in the walls. Still, I guess I won’t be able to avoid a few nail holes.

Most of what I’ll be hanging will probably go in my retro gaming room, including some unusual items. I have oversized bags with cool designs from Gamescom that I want to hang on the walls. I tried using adhesive strips before, but they fell off the old textured wallpaper, probably because they were too heavy. I’ve now got some document clips for the office and L-shaped nails. I want to use the clips to hold the bags flat and then hang them on the clips with the nails. For my sword (from Devil May Cry), I’ve ordered curtain tiebacks. I hope that works. I’ll even have to drill for that. 😱

Since I’ve gained some important info and insights from the thread, I don’t find it pointless at all. I did see some connection to housebuilding, even if a bit indirect, which is why I posted it here. I probably wouldn’t start a thread about spreads for bread, mainly because I wouldn’t know which subforum it would fit into. But I’m convinced that even with that topic, the forum community wouldn’t disappoint me. ♥
