Hello everyone,

we are looking for a good door manufacturer. Unfortunately, our general contractor can only offer us wooden doors, but we would prefer not to have wood. We are considering an aluminum front door.

Which manufacturers are your doors from? And what did they roughly cost?

Thanks in advance

Hello everyone,

We are currently looking for a new front door as well. It will be an aluminum door, preferably with a fingerprint scanner. RC2 security level.

Can anyone recommend other manufacturers?

So far, we have received quotes for aluminum doors from:

- Biffar: definitely quite expensive, but the swing bolts and lock bolts of the door (RC2) give a very solid and secure impression.

- Weru: also seem good, but when compared directly to Biffar, the bolts and locking points appear somewhat slender.

Both doors are priced around €6,000 (approx. $6,400) including installation. The Weru door would include a fingerprint scanner, while the Biffar does not.

Does anyone have experience with these two manufacturers?

@wrobel which manufacturer is your offer from?

Good luck

I currently have Biffar in my rental apartment. The front door is also made of aluminum and was installed about 10 years ago. It still looks like new. The door is very heavy and really solid. However, most burglars probably enter through the windows or from the less visible side of the house.

Hello,
Hörmann currently has offers where you can get the ThermoSafe doors for about 2700 € and the steel versions for 1800 €, though these do not include the motorized lock.
We took the offer ourselves, maybe there’s something in there for you too.

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend installing a fingerprint scanner directly in the door, but just the electric motorized lock. For the extra cost Hörmann charges for the fingerprint scanner version (a good 500 €), you can get a complete intercom system with video and fingerprint scanner that can also control the lock.

By the way, this tip came from the sample consultant of our general contractor....

Also, the choice between fingerprint scanner and keypad is worth some more consideration. Fingerprint scanners can unfortunately be relatively easy to fool, and their recognition accuracy isn’t the best. You basically still have to carry a key with you....

Best regards,

Andreas

Nonsense regarding bypassing and also accuracy... as long as you buy something reasonable.

Which is definitely not the case for 500 euros including an intercom system.

Ekey as a keyword...

Regarding Hörmann, I have often read that they make better garage doors than entry doors?!

But the offer doesn’t sound bad. It’s worth taking another look.
I already have some quotes for a Hörmann sectional door; the doors really seem good (I once got to see one at a neighbor’s house who also has one).

Good luck
