ᐅ Gap at fire-rated door T30. Is it installed correctly?

Hello,

a quick question for those who have installed fire doors or anyone knowledgeable on the topic.

Attached is a picture. You can see that at the top there is a gap between the door leaf and the frame, unlike the sides where the door leaf aligns flush with the frame.

Is this normal, or could the door leaf possibly be too small, or maybe an installation error? The door only just touches the gasket at the top.

My friend (a trained carpenter) also said that he doesn’t have any adjustment options.

I have no idea what kind of doors you have there, but my 110-euro door from Hörmann, bought at the DIY store, has a continuous seal all around, and the door fits tightly, theoretically sealing the room airtight.

It wasn’t about the seal, which runs all the way around on my door as well. It was about the gap between the metal frame and the door. And on my door, there is NO overhang at the TOP, so you can see the door frame and the gap.

I just looked up T30 doors and there are plenty where you can see the gap between the door and frame at the top.

So it’s fine as it was installed.

On our T30 door, the metal sheet overlaps at the top just as it does on the side. In my opinion, this is a much better-looking design.

This door was installed incorrectly. Fire doors must fit tightly all around the frame.

Shims are used to adjust the height. My Teckentrup door was custom fitted at the factory, so there is no visible height difference. Hörmann handles this the same way, as the examples shown on their website use the same hinges.

With the Hörmann T30, this is normal. It is due to the design. The rebate at the top does not extend over the frame.
