Hi everyone,

attached is the floor plan for the ground floor.

The staircase extends into the living room. Would this bother you?

It will be a concrete staircase, and the upper part of the stairs will still be visible in the living room as a sloped surface.

Best regards,
Johanna

Obviously change a U-shaped spiral staircase to a rectangular, spacious one with a cloakroom area. The rest will (hopefully) improve accordingly.

A house is a system, so it only makes sense to consider one floor separately if it is a bungalow. The convoluted path of the staircase is not the only issue here: when I think about where the stair exit is located on the upper floor, I have concerns about the awkwardness of the design. This issue is a typical sign of plans that 1. start with problematic assumptions and 2. follow the wrong sequence in designing the floors.

If I had a staircase leading into the living room, I would design it in an American style, making the bottom steps wider with a rounded shape to create a visual feature.

However, this requires space. In your case, it doesn’t really work because there wouldn’t be enough room left in the living area. Since the floor plan still has potential, as others have already pointed out, I would consider redesigning it.

By the way, where does the current plan come from? Was it drawn up by an architect?

The staircase is the central and, in this case, the more disruptive element. The wardrobe/pantry have already been mentioned.
The upper floor (first floor) is needed for the overall assessment. (I suspect nothing good).
The staircase in the living area is definitely visually disturbing, and I also don’t understand the purpose of the “protrusion.” If there is a projection, it should be at least one meter (3 feet).
