ᐅ Color design of the staircase in the living area, choice of materials

Our staircase will be located in the open space/gallery area and will likely be a quarter-turn steel stringer or folded plate staircase. Since it will be positioned in the middle of the room, it should also be visually appealing.

The stairs connect to solid wood floorboards made of pine or possibly larch or Douglas fir on both the ground floor and the upper floor, which we might stain darker.

However, there is a meeting of different materials and colors at both transitions to the floor. The risk is that the color tone will only be an approximate match, so we are considering choosing something "completely different."

Are there any ideas regarding this "problem" of clashing colors/materials? A steel staircase might be less comfortable to walk on, and a rustic steel staircase with diamond plate or similar looks stylish but might be too dominant in a not very large open-plan space.

Perhaps someone has pictures or ideas...

Will you be using different types of wood for the ground floor and the upper floor? With steel folded-plate staircases, you can also choose the same wood for the treads.
Take a look at the 3 million euro house by Weberhaus. There’s a video on YouTube. The staircase is a white steel folded-plate design with Z-shaped stringers and oak treads. It looks great!

Take a look at two-tone saunas,
there are wood tones that complement each other well.
I would introduce a deliberate contrast with the staircase.

Ah, nice place. Unfortunately, there’s always that annoying voice of the advertising lady.
Yes, I like something like that—metal overhang with relatively thin wooden treads.
No, it should be the same wood upstairs and downstairs.

Hmm... Glass feels very 80s... I wouldn’t choose that... and based on what I’ve read from you so far @pagoni2020... no, it doesn’t fit.

What other styles do you prefer for the living area?
And which materials?
I wouldn’t go for metal stair treads; they feel too thin and metallic.

If I had to decide again, I would have left the temporary construction wood on my steel staircase: worn oak boards, dulled by construction dust, matte and open-pored, comfortable to walk on and easy to maintain.

I wouldn’t choose metal stair treads—they feel too tinny.

Glass is out of the question, it only came up when searching for possible materials.
Style...? Hmm... I can’t really put it into a category...
We have definitely decided on wide solid wood planks in pine, Douglas fir, or larch, which will be stained towards a brown-gray tone. Samples still need to be tested... kitchen with white lacquer finish, various black USM Haller pieces... so rather sparsely and minimally furnished.
Good idea with your construction staircase... that could be my thing too... we’ll see... but something like that can’t really be planned—it either happens or it doesn’t.

Modern staircase with open wooden steps and metal frame; pendant lamps hanging in front of patterned wall.
