Hello!
I want to install a shallow Förvara drawer above my dishwasher (only semi-integrated, W 59.8cm (23.5 inches) x D 57.3cm (22.6 inches) x H 81.5cm (32.1 inches)) and need to drill through the side panels of two Metod base cabinets to mount the runners. The dishwasher is 81.5cm (32.1 inches) high, so with the base cabinets being 88cm (34.6 inches) tall, there would be a 7.5cm (3 inches) gap below the countertop. I plan to raise the METOD legs by 2.5cm (1 inch) to a total height of 10.5cm (4.1 inches) and then use a drawer front about 10cm (4 inches) high. My question is, what is the height of the first row of pre-drilled holes from the top of the base cabinets that can be used for drawers? It should actually work, since the drawer would close right at the top anyway, right?

the question is actually not that important because...
you will have to attach parts with the thickness of the side carcass anyway on the left and right (I think that was 2 x 1.8cm (0.7 inches)) to fix the drawers.
You drill the holes as you need them there. Hole spacing from the top 5.2, 10.2, 15.2, etc., every 5cm (2 inches). The 10.2cm (4 inches) from the top should work, but then you don’t need the 2cm (0.8 inches) top panel.
This is supposed to be an inner drawer, right?
With an outer panel / outer drawer, you need 9.8cm (3.9 inches) high drawer fronts.
Then it won’t fit.
Best regards, robi
P.S. Somehow I don’t understand how raising the feet to 10.5cm (4.1 inches) will create space for a drawer at the top...
There’s a flaw in that logic somewhere... lowering would make sense... but then you wouldn’t get an even baseboard...

So, these base cabinets are 88 cm (34.6 inches) high with the standard METOD legs setting, meaning the countertop sits at this height. My dishwasher is 81.5 cm (32.1 inches) high, leaving a gap of 7.5 cm (3 inches) to the countertop. If I raise the METOD legs (of course, on all base cabinets, since the countertop spans several units) by 2.5 cm (1 inch), the gap would be 10 cm (4 inches). This would be filled by the 10 cm (4 inches) high drawer front. I would attach the drawer slides on the outside of the right wall of the left base cabinet and on the left wall of the right base cabinet (just drill holes), and because the drawer is only 56.4 cm (22.2 inches) wide inside the carcass, I would add strips accordingly. I thought it might be more convenient to just drill through the holes...
How wide is such a front exactly? Does it fully cover the carcass, or can you see the side panels a little?
Edit: Ah, just read that 1.5 mm (0.06 inches) on each side is visible. That’s acceptable.

robi_aus_ffm18 Jul 2016 16:33You made a calculation error... Dishwasher 81.5cm (32 inches) + 2.5cm (1 inch) = 84cm (33 inches) so you only have 4cm (1.5 inches) left up to 88cm (35 inches)... from 81.5cm (32 inches) to 88cm (35 inches) is 6.5cm (2.5 inches), not 7.5cm (3 inches).
If I screw the METOD legs 2.5 cm (1 inch) higher, the base cabinets are no longer 88 cm (34.6 inches) tall as in the standard setting, but 90.5 cm (35.6 inches). So there would be 9 cm (3.5 inches) left for the drawer, not 10 cm (3.9 inches). I actually miscalculated there, that's correct. That means I would have to buy legs at the hardware store that bring the countertop to a height of 91.5 cm (36 inches). Or cut down the drawer front, which I would prefer to avoid...
The countertop is supposed to be much higher anyway, since I am 1.79 m (5 feet 10 inches) tall and the previous working height is too low for me.
