Dear all,

we are in the final stage of planning our Metod kitchen with exclusively third-party appliances.

Unfortunately, I am currently struggling with our fridge-freezer combo! And this time, the forum’s previous posts just don’t help me. Maybe someone can assist me... PLEASE

Problem:
We want to install a fridge-freezer combo in a 200cm (79 inch) tall cabinet Metod unit, meaning the fridge on top and the freezer at the bottom.
Of course, I want two separate doors so that the freezer does not open when I only want the fridge, and vice versa. Unfortunately, I don’t know which tall cabinet with which door combination I need to get two separate doors. In the kitchen planner, if I select a comparable IKEA product, the tall cabinet always switches to a single door immediately.

The fridge-freezers with a flat hinge that I have shortlisted (but am not yet fixed on) are Siemens KI77SAD30 and Siemens KI86SAF30, with the latter being my favorite due to the overall height.

According to the installation instructions, specific door heights are defined, and that is exactly where I have trouble.

Could I take a 200cm (79 inch) carcass and then install an 80cm (31 inch) door on the bottom and a 120cm (47 inch) door on top? For the top door, the overhang does not matter much; I’m more concerned whether the 80cm (31 inch) door fits at the bottom. I can adjust the bottom panel inside the cabinet in height. So, if I take the door height of the freezer section (69.4cm / 27 inch), I could mount the 80cm (31 inch) front so that it aligns flush at the top and then place the cabinet bottom panel at a suitable height so that it fits. This might result in a larger compartment below, but that would not be a problem.
Oh, the fronts are Laxarby, which we have chosen, in case that matters!

Am I missing something? Or am I not seeing the forest for the trees?

Thank you very much in advance – I’m happy to share the other appliances we have chosen if anyone else is currently planning a kitchen and struggling!

Hello,

you actually wrote it yourself. For the KI77SAD30, you can use a 20 cm (8 inch) drawer, an 80 cm (31 inch) door, and a 100 cm (39 inch) door; for the KI86SAF30, an 80 cm (31 inch) door and a 120 cm (47 inch) door.
