gixxa_14017 Oct 2009 00:21Hello!
I have a question about the Besta TV cabinet. It is the BESTA TV/storage combination with sliding doors.
The flat-screen TV is mounted directly onto the wooden back panel. However, I am concerned that the panel might not be able to support the weight. According to Ikea, the panel can hold up to 50 kg (110 lbs). The 42-inch TV weighs 25 kg (55 lbs), and a suitable wall mount usually weighs around 25 kg (55 lbs) as well.
Since it is not made of solid wood, I am worried that the panel won’t be strong enough to hold the TV, and that the expensive device might fall.
Does anyone have similar concerns or experience with Besta and can share advice or recommendations?
Thank you.

gixxa_140114 Oct 2009 12:49By now, everything has been settled. BESTA holds perfectly. 🙂
There are indeed wall mounts that weigh 25 kg (55 lbs) — I even found one weighing 29 kg (64 lbs) — but such a heavy one isn’t necessary. I have a Hama mount for 30 euros that weighs 6 kg (13 lbs), made of steel sheet metal, and it feels very sturdy. Additionally, you have to make sure the mount itself is very slim, because the BESTA cabinet only has 17 cm (7 inches) depth clearance; otherwise, the sliding doors won’t close, and the TV alone is already about 10 cm (4 inches) thick. You can’t connect a SCART cable, but who uses that anymore in the age of HDMI?
All in all, I’m satisfied with the project, and BESTA holds well and looks good. 😀

davidh_524111 Nov 2010 23:29Hello everyone,
I would also like to get the Besta TV/open storage combination with sliding doors. However, the online shop has made me a bit uncertain. The combination is listed only for devices up to 37 inches. Is a 42-inch TV still possible? That would be great...
