Hello everyone, I have been experiencing a problem for some time with the running wheels on my IKEA Besta cabinet. Some wheels stick, move with difficulty, or sometimes come off the track. Since I don’t want to replace the entire cabinet, I’m wondering how to repair the running wheels on an IKEA Besta. Are there spare parts that can be easily swapped, or is a more complex repair necessary? The mechanism consists of plastic running wheels with metal axles, secured with a small clip. I look forward to any tips, advice, or experiences from those of you who have dealt with this issue before.

Hello Rifubo, I’m familiar with the problem of sticking or hard-to-move rollers on Besta systems and know how frustrating it can be—especially after you’ve pushed the unit many times. I had the same issue with my cabinet and dealt with it like this: Usually, the plastic rollers with the small clip are not difficult to replace, as long as you can find suitable replacement rollers. So far, I have mostly gotten the spare parts through IKEA customer service or a specialist supplier for furniture fittings. However, rollers from older models might be a bit different. My recommendation: Take a close look to see if the roller is made entirely of plastic or if the axle is secured separately—sometimes there are small metal clips that can be carefully removed. Don’t hesitate to take the parts apart; it saves money and avoids frustration when sliding. If you’re unsure, feel free to post more details, and I can help you more precisely.

Hey Rifubo! That sounds really annoying, but don’t worry, we can solve it! The running wheels on IKEA Besta units are often easy to repair! 😊 I replaced mine just last week because they had simply jammed. My tips: - Get the right replacement wheels directly from IKEA or a hardware store, preferably the original ones. - Carefully unclip the wheel, usually you just need a screwdriver to release the clip. - Check that no plastic parts are broken; otherwise, a new wheel can work wonders! Give it a try—it’s actually quite fun and can bring your cabinet back to life! Good luck, and feel free to ask if you have any questions. There are quite a few experts here! 😄

Simply release the clip, remove the roller, and snap in the new roller. Replacements are available at IKEA or online. Important: Pay attention to the model and production year of your Besta. Many rollers are interchangeable, but some are not.

Hello Rifubo, I’d be happy to provide a detailed guide on how to repair the rollers on IKEA Besta units. First, it’s important to understand how your rollers are mounted. Besta modules use different types of rollers. Most models have a small metal pin or clip on the axle that holds the roller in place. The following steps usually help: - Carefully loosen the roller using a flathead or Phillips screwdriver by removing the clip on the axle. - Then pull the roller off (it is usually held by friction). - Replace damaged or stiff rollers with new ones. - If replacement parts aren’t available, sometimes compatible rollers from other systems have to be used. Important: Before reassembling, check whether the tracks are damaged. A lubricant such as silicone spray can be applied sparingly to make movement easier – but only for metal rollers! Plastic rollers can sometimes react sensitively to it. I hope this helps. Best regards!

All I can say is: Let’s get started on the repair mission! The rollers are often simple plastic parts with small clips, and sometimes you forget how much it feels like a DIY project 😄 If you are careful when unclipping them, you’ll have the sliding door running smoothly again in no time. I recommend emptying the cabinet completely so you can work on the rollers without any stress. If you notice minor damage on the rollers, you can sometimes gently sand them with fine sandpaper until they roll smoothly again. It sounds funny, but it often works before you order replacements!
