Hi!

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on what the best type of heating is! There’s a lot of talk about heating with wood being cheap and environmentally friendly. Prices for electricity and gas keep rising. Wood prices seem to be relatively stable, right? I look forward to your opinions and suggestions.

Best regards,
sennor 🙂

Hello onetwofour,

I have heard that wood pellet heating systems are very expensive. The initial investment must be quite high, right? I think heating with wood is a good option when it is available. Somehow, wood heating also feels quite cozy and traditional. Of course, it should also be functional and effective.

Hi!

As far as I know, heating with oil is the most expensive. Natural gas comes in second, followed by pellets. Significantly cheaper options are firewood and wood chips.

Hi!

Certainly, the renovation is not exactly cheap. However, I believe I have read that the costs for the conversion can be recovered after about 2-3 years. From then on, you basically start to make a profit.

Hi,

It's interesting to see that opinions here vary quite a lot. Perhaps the question of which heating method is best isn’t easy to answer. Still, everyone seems to agree that heating with wood is the most environmentally friendly option.

I really enjoy heating with wood, mainly because I think tile stoves are simply great. However, you also have to consider that you need to carry the wood yourself.

Yes, the most environmentally friendly option is definitely wood. However, I would only use it to heat one room, not an entire apartment. For the other rooms, especially the bathroom, I would choose underfloor heating.
