Hello,

I am looking for a doorbell system with an intercom feature—that is, a doorbell plus two-way communication. The system should have an analog a/b connection so it can be connected, for example, to a Fritzbox 7490 and used with DECT phones for speaking. Ideally, I want to keep the connection as simple as possible.

We are not interested in video features—we are not monitoring like the Stasi. And if I don’t like the look of the person at the door, I’ll simply keep it closed.

So far, my experience with intercom systems is that the person ringing can hardly be heard, and you always have to shout. Sometimes, just for fun, I make strange noises, and people still open the door because they don't understand anything anyway. When I use the intercom as the resident (inside the apartment), I also usually have trouble understanding the caller.

Therefore, I hope you can recommend some products or manufacturers known for very good audio quality, or those that have proven reliable from your experience.

Thank you very much.

I looked up some well-known brands online (Gira, Siedle, Busch-Jäger).
I get the impression that they mostly offer square, modular designs nowadays, focusing more on apartment buildings.
In terms of design, I’d be looking for something that fits a country house style or looks more "classic," rather than the typical stainless steel modern style.

Maybe I’m using the wrong search terms (doorbell system, intercom system, door communication system, hands-free door intercom)?

I’ll check out my local DIY store soon to see what they have. They probably also carry white plastic models.
