Hey everyone,
Does the 40mm (1.6 inches) Utrusta wire basket [1] fit into an FYNDIG base cabinet [2] or [3]?
The dimensions seem almost right, even though the middle holes for mounting are missing, but those could be drilled afterwards.
It would save me from back pain and forgotten groceries.
Best regards,
Tobias

Did you measure with a micrometer screw gauge? If you’re used to working with such a tool, then nothing can go wrong while DIY-ing. Probably not. Average of two folding rulers.
16 mm (0.63 inches) is a cabinet panel thickness commonly used by well-known kitchen manufacturers. If you use Euro screws plus chipboard screws, it will hold. Oh dear, I’d better ask a colleague.
For a 40 cm (16 inch) wide cabinet, I’d save myself the trouble and exchange it for a drawer cabinet. Great... I didn’t see that one in the store. The kitchen has been installed for a few weeks now. What a shame.

IKEA claims they want you to be happy, so you can return anything you bought after 25.8.2014 without any time limit if you don't like it, as long as you still have the receipt. The logistical effort would make me completely unhappy. However, they can have their umbrella back, which didn’t even survive its first autumn.
Would it be worth ordering it as an extra, or would that be too expensive compared to building it myself (cost/time)?I have no way to return it. I don’t have a car, and friends who could give me a ride live 70 km (43 miles) away. So, logistically, it’s a difficult undertaking. If necessary, I’ll just live with the lower cabinets. But somehow, the drawer DIY kit does tempt me...
