Hey everyone,

Does the 40mm (1.6 inches) Utrusta wire basket [1] fit into an FYNDIG base cabinet [2] or [3]?
The dimensions seem almost right, even though the middle holes for mounting are missing, but those could be drilled afterwards.

It would save me from back pain and forgotten groceries.

Best regards,
Tobias

Rather not, because FYNDIG has inset doors. It’s best to build matching drawers yourself.

Probably not, because FYNDIG has inset doors.

But that shouldn’t be an obstacle, right? The doors start at 57cm (22.4 inches), and the basket is only 56.5cm (22.2 inches) deep.
It’s best to build custom drawers yourself.

Doesn’t that fail already because of the basket?

The width is the problem. The door extends its full thickness into the cabinet when it is open, right?

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a basket. A drawer-like solution works as well. There are kits available for that.

The width is the issue. The door extends fully into the cabinet when open, right?

No, I measured up to the open door, of course. The door extends about 1 cm (0.4 inches) into the cabinet. The cabinet itself has an overall depth of about 59 cm (23 inches). With the door at the “deepest point,” it’s about 57.5 cm (22.6 inches).
It doesn’t have to be a basket. A drawer-type insert works just as well. There are kits for that.

I’m not upgrading a 25 EUR cabinet with a 22 EUR drawer. I’d rather just saw off the basket at the back. Have you seen my alternative on Amazon?

No, of course I measured up to the open door. The door extends about 1 cm (0.4 inches) into the cabinet body. The cabinet itself has a total depth of about 59 cm (23 inches). With the door at the “deepest point,” it’s about 57.5 cm (22.6 inches).

I see the problem more in the WIDTH rather than the depth. The door could get in the way of the basket when you try to pull it out.

The offer on Amazon is inexpensive but only fits cabinets 50 cm (20 inches) wide. Here too, you have to consider that the door might be in the way. You can also build a drawer individually in the right width.
