Flofar41Hello everyone, some time ago I purchased a KALLAX shelving unit from IKEA with doors, which I primarily use for storage in my home office. However, I have noticed that the doors have become somewhat harder to open over the past few weeks. Therefore, I am very interested to know: Do the doors on the KALLAX generally become stiff over time, even with proper use and installation? Or are such issues rather isolated cases, possibly caused by assembly, material defects, or environmental factors?
I am especially interested in whether the hinge materials or door mechanisms typically wear out or warp. Any tips on maintenance or readjustment would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your experiences and advice!

derrick3418 Dec 2021 12:06I can confirm this. Just spray the hinges with WD40 or some silicone spray. Then the door will operate smoothly again.

NoValentin19 Dec 2021 08:15Yes, stiffness is common. Adjusting and applying a little WD40 or silicone oil usually helps. If that doesn’t work, check if the wood is warped.
