ᐅ Decentralized ventilation system with minimal visibility on the exterior facade

Hello dear building forum,

We are constructing a 210 sqm (2,260 sq ft) single-family house to KfW 55 standard and want a decentralized ventilation system. (We have deliberately decided against a central ventilation system, but this is not the topic here.)

I am looking for a system that is discreet on the exterior of the house, for example, integrated into the window reveals. We do not want to have fans visible on the facade in every room.

Who has experience and can recommend something? I look forward to the exchange. Best regards

Didn’t we discuss this recently? For example, there is the Geneo Inovent solution from Rehau.

This system actively ventilates directly through the window, rather than through a wall opening.

Two days ago, I posted a message that has since disappeared. After that, I only received an error message.

A decentralized system in a newly built single-family house is a classic poor decision, there is no sugarcoating that. If it is still working now, it should be changed to a central system. I cannot think of any reason to justify it, except for the investment cost, which will be slightly lower.

Maybe the utility room is too small?

I generally agree with you, but if someone wants a chocolate hammer and asks for dark or bittersweet, it’s not very helpful to point out that a steel hammer or rubber mallet might be better, depending on the intended use...

It doesn’t change the fact that decentralized ventilation is basically a makeshift solution... and the intention here is to make this makeshift solution even more specialized.

But people forget that air still has to pass through somewhere, and for that you need certain diameters or cross-sections.

With windows, it’s always interesting to observe that they are designed to be as airtight as possible, only to have holes cut into them at the final stage??? Kind of pointless, isn’t it?

May I ask a question about this? We were told that the costs for a central ventilation system are significantly higher than for a decentralized one. For this reason, even our KfW consultant advised against it.
Is that really the case? And what kind of money are we talking about? We are just at the beginning of the ventilation topic, and I’m currently overwhelmed by all the information and opinions...
Thank you very much in advance
