Mr.BoingHello Forum,
we have received a maintenance offer for the Vaillant Therm plus VWL 75/6 A and find the price quite high. They are asking for nearly €360. I was expecting around €250.
The following services will be performed:
- general condition inspection
- visual and functional check including safety and control devices
- verification of system settings
- inspection of the water level and pre-pressure of the membrane expansion vessel
- inspection of the domestic hot water heater for leaks and function, including checking the magnesium anode (if present)
- inspection of the fan, cleaning and removal of ingested debris, and checking the condensate drain
- inspection and cleaning of the air heat exchanger
- function check of the controller (clock setting, etc.)
The house and heating system are located in Berlin... if that’s relevant.
What do you think?
Thanks in advance.
Regards

The price is more or less standard. The effort is about 45 minutes, and everything listed as "cleaning" for the exterior is simply rinsed off with the garden hose.
In my opinion, this is unnecessary or something you can easily do yourself. If needed, you could hire it every 4-5 years or hire once now to see what is done, and then handle it yourself.

I was expecting more around 250€.How do you arrive at 250€? Just a gut feeling? The first 100€ are already taken up by travel to and from the site. If everything is done properly and documented, the technician will probably work for about 2 hours, so the price seems reasonable, although not cheap.
How old is the system, and is maintenance required or a condition for a warranty (extension)?
So, we pay around 130 EUR for our gas boiler, including necessary wear parts like seals and screws.
I know this isn’t directly comparable, but the technician is usually occupied for about an hour, and with gas there’s no alternative except to stop using it. Against this background, I find your price really quite steep.
