MangoLychee3 Nov 2017 15:06Hello everyone,
Next year, we will have a house built. It will be delivered more or less as a turnkey project. We plan to build the garage ourselves with some relatives who have relevant experience. Since we are now working on the detailed cost planning, it would be very helpful if someone could give us a rough estimate of the cost for a double garage measuring 7 x 7 meters (23 x 23 feet). The roof will be a gable roof sloping towards the neighbor’s garage, and on the side facing the house, there will be a terrace (the balcony railing will be replaced by a parapet-height roof).
Originally, we wanted a flat roof, but since we must follow the development plan and as a border building use the same roof style as the neighbors, we have to build a gable roof. On the side facing the house, we need windows, so that’s why there will be a terrace instead. With the preliminary decision, we have already reached some limits with the local building authority, so we want to minimize any further exceptions.
We would be very grateful for any responses.
Best regards

That depends heavily on the construction (wall thickness, roof design) and the materials you buy and where you get them from.
If you have professionals available, you can create a material list together. You already know how you want to build the garage, right? So a rough building plan or guide.
Go to one or several building material suppliers and ask them to prepare a quote based on the material list. That way, you’ll know the cost. Additionally, you are required to register all hours worked by construction helpers afterwards with your accident insurance provider, which will lead to extra insurance costs.
I just searched Google for “material costs garage.” You can find quite a bit of information, even some right here in the forum. So please use the search function first.
If you want a very rough estimate: about 10,000 € (around $11,000) excluding labor costs.
