Sektionschef8 Dec 2014 11:54Hello
For my pantry cabinet as well as the cabinet for the refrigerator, I have a 60x80cm (24x31½ inches) door at the bottom and a 60x120cm (24x47 inches) door above it. I want to connect the upper and lower doors to make one large 200cm (79 inches) door.
Should I use the 602.635.88 Utrusta connecting rail for this, or is there something else from IKEA? Or should I simply use a metal strip from the hardware store?
Regards

Sektionschef8 Dec 2014 21:56Hello, what kind of refrigerator will be installed in the cabinet? No fridge-freezer combination? For now, we plan to install our old fridge-freezer combination (178cm (70 inches) recess). Later, we will replace it with a refrigerator with a small freezer compartment; this will have one large door fitting the 178cm (70 inches) recess.

IKEA-Experte9 Dec 2014 18:40Why do you want to connect the doors if there is a fridge and freezer compartment? You usually wouldn’t want to open both doors at the same time.
What you can use to connect them will depend on how much space is behind the door. If it’s a new refrigerator with a flat hinge, there might not be any space at all. The UTRUSTA connecting rail seems generally unnecessarily large for this purpose.

Sektionschef10 Dec 2014 10:07Thank you, IKEA expert,
I’m not planning to connect the fronts on the fridge at the moment; I will only do that once I replace the fridge/freezer combo with the single-door fridge. My question is primarily about the pantry cabinet, which also has a 120cm (47 inches) and an 80cm (32 inches) door, so the look matches the fridge.
Additionally, I want to connect two 60x40cm (24x16 inches) hinged doors on a 60cm (24 inches) base cabinet. Should I also use the Utrusta rail for this?
Last week, I assembled an 80cm (32 inches) base cabinet for the domsjö double sink. It has one drawer with an 80x40cm (32x16 inches) front and, connected above it, an 80x20cm (32x8 inches) front. The drawer set (Maximera) also included connecting rails, but different from the Utrusta 602.635.88. There was an installation guide showing how to fit the rails. It mentioned longer connecting rails on the outside (similar to 602.635.88) and two short connecting rails on the inside.
I have already searched, but unfortunately, I can’t find this installation guide anywhere on Ikea’s website. Ideally, it would be great if you could buy those two short connecting rails separately at Ikea.
Do you have any idea which rails I mean? If needed, I could scan the installation guide?
Best regards,
Sektionschef

If they are not too thick and do not interfere with the inner drawer slides, use these to connect the doors. Install them only after the doors have been aligned.
