Hello,
we want to make some modifications to our under-sink cabinet.
The plan was to install a pull-out drawer to organize the waste bin properly.
We bought the components for the drawer straight away, but then realized it wouldn’t fit because of the trap. So we went back to IKEA and bought the Atlant trap to move the trap towards the back.
At home, we found out that it still doesn’t fit. We have a standard sink with a 7 cm (2.8 inch) drain, but the Atlant trap is designed for larger drains.
Now I’m wondering if there is another way to make this work.
Do you have any tips or ideas?
I would be very grateful if you could help me out 🙂

Hi,

The only alternative would be an Ikea sink with an Ikea drain trap. I also wanted to install Ikea’s waste sorting bins under my Blanco sink. That wasn’t possible due to the drain trap being too deep. Since the sink was more important to me than the waste sorting, the Rationell system—which includes bins and a pull-out drawer—was completely discarded. I then decided on the Retur waste sorting system from Ikea, which is wall-mounted. It includes two 30 cm (12 inch) bins for plastic and general waste, and a large 60 cm (24 inch) bin underneath for paper. It looks good and keeps the sink cabinet available as storage space.

Best regards
