Hello,

Here’s the situation: Bauhaus style; interior wooden windows with a dark (brown-black) stain; exterior aluminum windows in 7016 anthracite; grey-white facade (RAL 9002) with selected anthracite areas; anthracite-colored external venetian blinds.

We are currently debating the color of the window sills:

Option 1 (suggested by our architect): grey-white, matching the facade

+ blends in more since it’s the same color as the facade
+ might be less contrasting when looking outside against the brown/black wooden windows

- uncertain if the exact same grey-white as the facade can be achieved, as it’s a different material (we do not want to introduce another color)
- hardly possible to see any real examples since most people have window sills in RAL 7016 or sometimes aluminum gray when the exterior windows are RAL 7016

Option 2 (what most people choose): anthracite, matching the windows

+ identical to the window color since it’s the same material (aluminum)
+ many examples available

- does not blend in as much
- might contrast more when looking outside against the brown-black wooden windows

What do you think of the architect’s suggestion, or how have you solved this?

Best regards
Jochen

Wow, those are the kind of problems I wish I had while building.
I would go with the anthracite color… Nothing clashes when looking outside, and it fits well with the overall exterior appearance.

Unfortunately, our architect is doing such a good job that we end up spending our time on questions like these...

I like it! That’s exactly how it should be.

I would choose the light ones if you also plan to furnish the house mostly in white and use light flooring. For dark flooring, I would go with the dark window sills.
