KrustyDerClown5 Jan 2018 00:50Hello everyone,
Right where my ventilation outlet exits the house, I want to build part of the terrace. The terrace will be constructed about 1 meter (3 feet) above ground level, so the ventilation practically comes out underneath the terrace. Originally, it wasn’t planned to have a terrace section there – but now it will be. 🙂 The ventilation exits to the outside are already installed and cannot be changed.
From my point of view, I have two options: I could build a substructure that leaves a free space under the terrace, or I could create a kind of drywall construction and "install" a ventilation duct that extends about 1.5 meters (5 feet) forward and then vents out to the open air.
Do you have any tips on this or perhaps other ideas?
I hope I explained the situation clearly. 🙂 Otherwise, feel free to ask.
Best regards,
Oliver

In my opinion, there is no reason not to leave the space under the terrace open. The exhaust air should be able to escape freely. If you extend the duct, you will introduce an additional (although small) pressure loss, which changes the system characteristics (whether this is significant remains to be seen).
Ventilation outlets often produce (minor) noise. Therefore, the location at the terrace is not ideal in any case.
