ᐅ Is a balcony drain channel necessary at the balcony door? No roof covering!

Good day.
This point is not entirely clear to me either. I have already done a lot of research on Google.
Our balcony faces east and south. It is not covered.
It is constructed on steel beams with a light granite slab on a gravel bed system.
Now, I have read that there should be some kind of “drip edge” in front of the balcony door to prevent water from flowing inside during a “once-in-a-century” rain event.
However, I do not see this feature.
Am I allowed to raise a complaint about this?
Thank you!

No idea if it is a “must.” I haven’t seen a drainage channel with standard thresholds like those in the TE, at least not yet.

Balcony is not the same as balcony/terrace/flat roof...

- Attached balconies, freestanding balconies, integrated balconies (loggia), inverted roof used as a terrace...

For example, cantilevered balconies already have the waterproofing layer integrated into their structure. Controlled drainage therefore takes place within the frame profile. The steel construction measures between 150 and 200 mm (6 to 8 inches) at all times, thus complying with the mentioned DIN standard.

Alternatively, you can simulate a once-in-a-century rainfall 😀 and if afterward everything that should be dry remains dry, then no expert report or legal dispute is needed 🙂

So, the difference is about 6cm (2.4 inches)!
Is that okay, or should there be a drainage channel in front of the balcony door?

Well, it probably should... You probably don’t have any planning documents (which would be very helpful), but do you at least have a clear photo?
