Good day.
This point is not entirely clear to me either. I have already done a lot of research on Google.
Our balcony faces east and south. It is not covered.
It is constructed on steel beams with a light granite slab on a gravel bed system.
Now, I have read that there should be some kind of “drip edge” in front of the balcony door to prevent water from flowing inside during a “once-in-a-century” rain event.
However, I do not see this feature.
Am I allowed to raise a complaint about this?
Thank you!

Could you tell us the height difference between the top edge of the balcony surface and the top edge of the door threshold when the balcony door is open? (This is the highest point of the door frame. When walking in and out, people often catch their foot on it. 🙂 )

Is there a drainage system on the balcony? I am not familiar with this, as balconies are usually accessed via a threshold.

Regarding flat roof guidelines and DIN 18195: without a drainage channel and without a canopy, the threshold must be at least 15 cm (6 inches) high. If the threshold is lower, special measures are required, such as a drainage channel, which then allows the threshold to be lowered to 5 cm (2 inches).

For barrier-free access, the threshold should be less than 2 cm (0.8 inches), which calls for especially careful planning.

If linking were permitted here, I would share sources, but with the keywords given, you should be able to find relevant information.

Hello.
So, the difference is about 6 cm (2.4 inches)!
Is that acceptable, or should there be a drainage channel in front of the balcony door?
Thank you
