Hello everyone,
I am planning to assemble several Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets soon and was wondering if there are any special tools that make the assembly easier or even necessary.
Ikea usually provides an Allen key, but the assembly sometimes feels a bit fiddly, especially with the screws and dowels.
Are there any professional tools or practical gadgets you would recommend? If so, which tools are truly useful for assembling the Metod series to save time and effort?
Looking forward to your experiences and tips!

Hello,
I would like to add that, in addition to the tools already mentioned, a small manual screwdriver can be very useful for tightening screws occasionally or when working in places where a cordless screwdriver doesn’t fit.
Many people underestimate how important good preparation is. I recommend the following approach:
- Check that all screws and wall plugs are complete
- Keep tools ready and operational (e.g., fully charged battery)
- Read the instructions beforehand to be aware of common pitfalls
Regarding your main question: There are no specific Ikea tools for Metod, but having additional good-quality tools makes the assembly much easier.
Good luck with your build!
