Sebastijan14 Apr 2020 08:23Hello everyone,
I am currently looking for a suitable storage solution for my Ikea Pax wardrobe. My specific question is: Are there any special storage boxes or containers designed specifically for the Ikea Pax system?
I am not just thinking of typical boxes, but ideally modular or customizable containers that fit well inside the Pax compartments, such as shelves, drawers, or clothes rail brackets.
Maybe someone knows of products that are precisely tailored to the dimensions and functionality of the Pax system or has tips on what works particularly well – including options beyond Ikea’s own solutions.
Thanks in advance for your experiences and recommendations!

Hello Sebastijan,
Regarding your question: Yes, there are indeed specially designed storage solutions tailored to the Ikea Pax system. Ikea itself offers fabric boxes and drawer inserts that fit perfectly inside the Pax frames. These have standardized dimensions, allowing them to fit precisely into the interiors.
In addition, some manufacturers and third-party suppliers offer modular storage boxes in various sizes that are compatible with the Pax measurements. Boxes made of lightweight materials with handles, which allow for easy removal, are particularly recommended.
If you plan to use the storage space flexibly, it might also be useful to choose stackable boxes or systems that combine well with the Pax drawers.
I can’t give a general purchase recommendation, as the choice depends greatly on your individual needs. But from my experience, it is worth paying close attention to the exact measurements of the Pax system to achieve the best result.

I would suggest measuring the exact interior dimensions of your Pax wardrobe before purchasing – the width, depth, and available height of each compartment or drawer are important.
Pax systems are very versatile and can include shelves, hanging rods, or drawers. Each of these sections has different requirements for storage boxes:
- For drawers, shallow drawer inserts or boxes that aren’t too tall work best, so they fit easily and remain accessible.
- For compartments, stackable boxes are recommended, preferably sturdy enough to hold the weight.
- If hanging rods are present, you might consider smaller boxes with handles that can be placed on the floor or hanging organizers.
Technically, many Ikea boxes are designed to match the dimensions exactly, optimizing the use of available space. Third-party options may offer more flexibility, but be careful: not all are precisely sized like Ikea’s.
Personally, I find a checklist with all interior measurements plus a sketch very helpful for quickly checking compatibility.
I’m curious, what type of clothing or items do you mainly plan to store? That could influence the choice of products.

I would be interested to know what type of clothing or items you mainly want to store. That could still influence the choice of products. Thanks for the tip! I’m mainly looking for storage solutions for T-shirts, underwear, and occasionally accessories like belts or scarves.
So, they should be rather small boxes or containers that fit well into drawers or on shelves, but also remain flexible in case I want to reorganize.
I also care about a neat appearance because my Pax stays open, so it’s not a traditional closet with doors.
Does anyone have experience with the Ikea internal fabric boxes in this context? Are they sturdy enough if you want to take them out sometimes? And how about the size – do they fit well into the typical Pax drawers or shelf compartments?

Are they sturdy enough if you want to take them out occasionally?Ikea fabric storage boxes, such as the "SKUBB" series, are commonly used as drawer inserts in the Pax wardrobe system. They are sturdy enough for lighter clothing like T-shirts and underwear and usually feature handles that make them easier to remove. If you don’t overfill them, they maintain their shape well and are durable.

Do they fit well into the typical Pax drawers or shelf compartments? The "SKUBB" boxes are designed to correspond well with the standard internal dimensions of the Pax system. The flat versions fit into many drawers, while the larger ones are intended for shelves. However, the range of sizes is not very extensive, so for particularly small intermediate spaces, the fit can be a bit tight, but this is generally the case with fabric storage boxes.
I recommend visiting a furniture store to measure and handle the boxes yourself to get a sense of their stability and size.
Summary: For T-shirts and underwear, SKUBB boxes are very suitable—sturdy, flexible, and visually discreet.
