Are there lockable doors available for IKEA’s KALLAX system? I plan to use my KALLAX shelf unit for storing personal items that should occasionally be protected against unauthorized access. Therefore, my question is: Does IKEA or any third-party manufacturer offer special door systems that can be locked and are compatible with KALLAX shelves? Ideally, the doors should not only be lockable but also fit well with the design and be easy to install. I look forward to experiences, tips, or suggestions on what options are available.

Do you also have concerns that the installation might be complicated? That's a good point. KALLAX dimensions are quite specific, so I recommend choosing doors that are explicitly designed for KALLAX units, even if there are no original IKEA locking doors available. There are also folding doors with magnetic closures that can be supplemented with small additional locks. This keeps the installation manageable.
That's brilliant! A few weeks ago, I was also looking for lockable KALLAX doors and came across some small specialized manufacturers offering these doors with locks – even in different colors! 🙂 They are easy to install, and you get matching screws and even hinges that fit perfectly. If you want, I can find the links for you!

I was looking for lockable KALLAX doors myself a few weeks ago and came across some small specialized manufacturersThat sounds very promising, thank you! Can you say whether these doors also fit the latest KALLAX models? Or have the dimensions and drilling patterns remained the same? I want to be absolutely sure there won’t be any surprises during installation. It would also be interesting to know whether the lock is a simple cam lock design or if there is some kind of key lock available.
I completely understand how important this is to you! Your caution is justified because, while it’s easy to install doors on KALLAX units, not all models come with lockable doors. I’ve tried the following: some users order simple cabinet doors of a similar size and add small padlocks or install their own locking mechanisms. It’s not a high-end look, but it’s fairly secure. Maybe a temporary solution?
