Hello everyone, I am currently looking for new furniture and am particularly interested in the IKEA Brimnes series. I would like to know if there are versions of the Brimnes furniture that come with a soft-close feature. This is very important to me because I want to avoid the doors and drawers slamming shut. It would be great if someone has experience with this or knows for sure whether IKEA offers this feature in the Brimnes range. I am especially interested in cabinets and dressers, but also other pieces from the series. Are there any official details or perhaps user reviews available? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Hey kiralen, I recently bought some furniture from IKEA myself and can confirm: yes, some Brimnes pieces come with soft-close features! 😊 You’ll often find this, especially with dressers. It’s important to check the product details carefully because not all versions include this feature automatically. If the furniture has soft-close, it’s usually indicated on the packaging or in the product description on the IKEA online store. I ordered a Brimnes dresser with soft-close and I’m really happy because the doors close so quietly. So, pay close attention when shopping! Good luck with your furniture purchase! 🌟

I can fully confirm that! I love IKEA and also the Brimnes series. The soft-close function works really well for me, especially on the drawers where you really notice the difference. If you get stressed during assembly – don’t worry! At first, I thought it wouldn’t fit at all, but it’s quite easy to correctly install the hinges and runners with soft-close. Just make sure to choose the models with the soft-close mechanism, otherwise you’ll regret it later!

Honestly, I think whether Brimnes furniture has soft-close or not is somewhat overrated. After all, these are just affordable IKEA pieces. The soft-close feature is nice, but definitely not a reason to buy the furniture solely for that. You can also retrofit soft-close functionality, for example with dampers that you can purchase separately. I’ve done this myself, and it works quite well. Of course, for people who value convenience, it’s a nice feature. But I don’t see it as a must-have when it comes to Brimnes.

To add: Official IKEA information confirms that the BRIMNES series occasionally includes soft-close hinges or soft-close drawer slides, but these are not standard on all pieces. Creating a precise overview would require reviewing the product item numbers with the corresponding features.

- Generally, the soft-close technology mainly applies to drawers and doors of larger dressers and cabinets.
- Some smaller furniture items in the series only have basic hinges.

In summary, IKEA offers soft-close on certain Brimnes models, but the feature is not consistently available across the entire series.

Additionally, I would like to point out that when purchasing in-store, careful inspection is especially recommended. Soft-close features are often offered by IKEA as optional extras or are only available with certain color options. Furthermore, the soft-close function is not only characterized by quieter closing but also by cushioning the closing action to prevent loud slamming.

If you are specifically looking for soft-close, it is advisable to check the product specification sheet or ask the staff on site directly. Contrary to some opinions, the feature is not integrated into all Brimnes furniture, as cost efficiency is usually prioritized.
