Hello,

I have a question.
In my bathroom, the tiling on both sides of the door only goes halfway up the wall, about 120cm (47 inches).
This leaves a gap of approximately 1cm (0.4 inches) between the wall, tile, and door frame above the 120cm (47 inches) mark.
What are the best or most visually appealing ways to address this gap?
I would really appreciate any help!

I would guess acrylic? Although 1cm (0.4 inches) is quite thick. Maybe it’s possible to fill it with putty and then paint over it again?

Hello Tolentino,
I also initially thought of acrylic. But as you already mentioned, 1cm (0.4 inches) is really a lot.
I think filling and painting is definitely a better option.
Thank you

Use acrylic. It won’t be noticeable later. If needed, you can paint over it with wall paint afterward.

Normally, a finishing strip is installed there, for example made of stainless steel. Acrylic is not recommended, as it gets dirty very quickly and is difficult to keep clean.

1. There are foam rods designed for larger gaps that are sealed with silicone. These should also be suitable for acrylic. They are called "joint filling profile / round PE cord 10mm (0.4 inches)."

2. Or cut out (mill) the frame at the spot where the tiles are installed.

As a third option, let the tiles end a few centimeters (inches) before the door frame starts.

And option 4 as a last resort (which looks unattractive): make the tiles in the area of the door frame as high as the door itself.
