Hello everyone,

I am currently planning to rearrange my apartment and want to use the IKEA Platsa series because it seems very flexible. However, I have many pieces of furniture from other IKEA series, such as BESTÅ and KALLAX, and I am wondering how to best combine PLATSA with these other series.

Specifically, I am interested in design or technical tips to create a harmonious look between the furniture, whether regarding color choices, door fronts, or handle styles. I would also like to know how others have influenced the overall feel of a room by combining PLATSA and other series in the same space.

Who has experience or concrete recommendations? Thanks in advance!

It is best to match the color palette of the fronts. PLATSA is available in white, just like many BESTÅ units, so the furniture looks cohesive.

Regarding handles: If you use handle strips, stick to the same style across all series. This creates a consistent look.

Hello penitar,

to combine PLATSA with other IKEA series like BESTÅ or KALLAX, I recommend the following structured approach:

- Color coordination: Try to use the same front colors as much as possible. PLATSA is often available in matte white, which matches well with BESTÅ.
- Handles and fittings: Use identical or at least similar handles or handle strips on all furniture to create a cohesive overall look.
- Room layout: PLATSA is modular, so plan shelves to functionally correspond with the other furniture.
- Technical connection: You can connect furniture pieces using brackets or clamps to ensure stability.

A common mistake is mixing different door fronts with varying gloss levels – avoid this, as it makes the combination look inconsistent.

I hope this gives you a solid foundation for your planning!

I combined PLATSA with BESTÅ by consistently using white fronts and matching handle rails. This creates a cohesive look. Additionally, using suitable shelves or lighting can complete the appearance.

I find it really exciting to see how the flexibility of PLATSA can be used to complement existing IKEA furniture. For me, it was important that everything looks harmonious because my small living room is quite compact.

At first, I had some concerns about combining different series, but with a few matching handles and the white fronts, the room soon felt cozier.

Sometimes you have to be a bit daring and trust your instincts, even if not everything is 100% the same. For me, it worked out really well and gives the space a unique touch.

If you want to connect the series together, first check if the heights and depths roughly match. PLATSA is slightly deeper than KALLAX, but this can often be compensated by spacing.
