It now looks rather matte and somewhat dull, which I did not expect. I generally do not use any harsh cleaning agents, just a damp microfiber cloth without any added substances.

My question is: Has anyone experienced the issue that the KALLAX shelf loses its shine after cleaning with a microfiber cloth? I completely agree. I once had the same issue with my KALLAX – after cleaning, everything looked quite dull, almost “flat.” Since then, I always use a separate, slightly damp cloth and then apply a small amount of furniture polish with a soft cloth. Result? The shine comes back and the shelf stays looking great! 🙂

Oh, and very important: don’t use too much liquid, or it will make things worse. You don’t want a water damage situation 😉

I’m familiar with that. Just try treating it afterward with furniture polish or a care oil. Use only a small amount, apply it, and then gently buff it. This quickly restores the shine.

If you use the microfiber cloth damp, don’t make it too wet, or the surface may be damaged.
