Hello everyone,

I have a problem with my Ikea Besta cabinet doors. They close quite stiffly, to the point where I’m concerned they might get damaged or warped over time. The doors are installed correctly, and the hinges are still fine, but closing them is really difficult. Does anyone have experience or advice on what can be done specifically when Ikea Besta doors are hard to close? Are there any technical adjustments or minor repairs that might fix this issue? I’d appreciate any help, as I’d like to avoid having to replace the doors.

Hi everyone! I had the same problem with my Besta doors and was really frustrated. What helped me a lot was:

- Completely remove the hinges
- Thoroughly clean all parts (dust and dirt tend to accumulate inside the hinge)
- Treat the hinges and moving parts with a few drops of spray oil
- Reinstall the doors and carefully adjust them

This made the doors close smoothly again for me. Hope this helps you too!

Oiling can help in the short term, but be careful not to use too much oil – it attracts dust and can cause problems over time. A better option is a specialized dry lubricant or silicone spray.

Additionally, it’s important to check whether the hinges used are actually suitable for the door thickness and weight. Incorrect hinges or overloading can also cause stiffness.
