I am aware that different surfaces require certain cleaning agents and methods to avoid damaging the paint or laminate. Therefore, I am interested in any tested and effective tips on how to gently and thoroughly remove greasy residues from Ikea Metod fronts without roughening or discoloring the surface. Are there any particular home remedies or cleaning products that have proven especially useful? I would also appreciate recommendations on the proper cleaning technique or advice on what to definitely avoid. Thank you in advance for your help!

I am interested in whether you have proven and effective tips on how to gently and thoroughly remove greasy residues, especially from the Ikea Metod frontsThis topic is certainly interesting, especially regarding the surface finish. It is important first to understand whether the fronts have laminated or painted surfaces, as this significantly affects the cleaning methods.
I would generally advise against using aggressive solvents, as they can often damage the surface. Instead, I recommend starting with a mild dish soap mixed with warm water and a soft microfiber cloth.
However, I wonder if this alone is sufficient to remove grease buildup that has accumulated over a longer period. Has anyone had experience using natural cleaners like vinegar or citric acid without causing damage? Or might specialized kitchen cleaners be the better option? In my view, the cleaner should be left on briefly but not for too long to avoid damaging the material.
Based on personal experience, I can recommend a proven method for cleaning greasy Ikea Metod kitchen fronts that is gentle and preserves the surface:
- First, clean with a soft cloth and lukewarm water mixed with a few drops of mild dish soap.
- For stubborn grease stains, I suggest a 1:1 mixture of water and 70% isopropyl alcohol, but it’s important to test this first on an inconspicuous area.
- After cleaning, wipe again with a damp cloth and then thoroughly dry the surface with a microfiber cloth to avoid water spots.
It is important never to scrub or use abrasive sponges, as this can easily damage the surface.
I would also advise against using vinegar or citric acid, as these can cause discoloration or damage, especially on laminated fronts.
If anyone has tried more specialized products, I’m curious to hear how effective they were.

For stubborn grease stains, I recommend a mixture of water and 70% isopropyl alcohol in a 1:1 ratioThanks for the tip, that sounds reasonable.
I usually clean the Metod fronts only with soapy water and a microfiber cloth, and that works well for most grease stains.
A quick reminder about the method: Avoid abrasive sponges and harsh chemical cleaners, as they can quickly damage the surface.
